yes, you are right, I'm not too worried, we had many many incredible sightings. It was just disappointing in this one instance :)

We saw this one at Maloutswa hide in Mapungupwe in March. They (the pig family) were around every day we were there. This park is a place worth visiting!!!

One of four Bushpig observed from the Maloutswa hide in Mapungubwe in January 2008. Unfortunately they were way too shy for any other photo opportunities. I could just see the family move through the tall grass to the left of the hide. This one showed itself for maybe one second before disappearing again.
Most probably the same family as Skopsie's.

Here's an old pic from CUSTOS 1978:

A tame bushpig in camp...or something like that!

Hi Guys,

We spotted this guy on the H1-1, 2km outside Skukuza, on the 30th of April 2011.

Check out the link in my signature for the story.

 Some seem to agree. I didn't realize how rare they were, especially in the Skukuza area, that's until RP pointed it out.

Yip its truely an amazing sighting...and much rarer than a pangolin or Aardvark for this part of the greater Kruger. To put it in perspective in the last 30 or so years of recorded animal sightings in 2 of the larger properties of the Sabi Sands (which borders the Skukuza area) the only evidence of Bushpig was one record where an individual fell victim to a leopard.
Bushpigs are quite common in the Makuleke concession along the Luvuvu river region though.

Thanks o-dog  I live in KZN and often see pigs in the midlands bush, but I knew that they were rare in KNP, but didn't know how rare.

I was in northern KZN in another conservation area over the weekend and this guy below chased me into our unit. I was outside having a smoke and he came charging out of the darkness

Each time I opened the sliding door he went for me

Eventually the family arrived

WOW WOW WOW! Great pics, Boskuns.

By the sound of it Mr Bushpig was quite aggro. Perhaps whiskey fumes have this effect on these animals?

 It wasn't a pink pig, of which I have seen a few in my time

Check out the whiskey and water on the table
