Surely there has been sufficient time now ((16 months) to debate the pros and cons of the winning logo and make such adjustments as are considered necessary?
Yes, more than enough time.
'Mites - all I can do, from myself, because I lead the project behind the scenes, and on behalf of those on the project committee who unwittingly have been caught up in the delay, is humbly apologize that you have been left hanging here for so long.
We took a while to come to agreement on a final design to submit to SANParks. It is a bit different from the original because various factors had to be taken into account - cost of printing, embroidery and ease of embroidery/printing.
SANParks also during this process said that they wanted the Forum Members to be associated with SANParks when they wear the logo, so they gave permission to add the Kudu Kop to the logo. This was again back to the drawing board as the Kudu Kop comes with a prescribe condition of use - size, trademark and so on.
Then at the next meeting with SANParks, SANParks asked if the logo could be made available to not only the Forum Members, but all their online fans - those who follow SANParks on facebook and twitter etc. As there is a big cross over and cross referencing between these mediums this request only made sense. When on the internet many Forum Members also follow SANParks on facebook, twitter etc and the fans there follow the forums.
So, back to the drawing board
We now do have an approved logo, and I will ask LQ to post it here for you all to see. It was verbally approved at the cricket and I will ensure I get the written approval next week (today is a public holiday in SA) from SANParks.
Deep gratitude and appreciation to those involved behind the scenes in the endless redrawing and resubmitting that has gone on; to you all who have been so patient, to the original winner designer - to all involved. We know your efforts and endless patience is going to be worth it in the end.
Once the logo is announced, please note it cannot be used by anyone, it is under the Kudu Kop copyright, and merchandise bearing the logo will be made available for sale to the online community asap. Promise not another 16 months
