Can`t believe that the last sighting worth mentioning was 14 June 2013!

Will be there in 3 days if all goes as planned

I think that's perhaps indicative of the poor sightings in the area. :(
Am not keen on the P'kop area and found this area to be slow for sightings.

I would be very interested to know if the dogs (it was a pack of 13 with some young ones) are still around. Itwould be great if you give a short (or long) report after your return  Have a great time 123

Having said the above, it does seem productive for some!

The tall grass often makes it quite difficult to see animals, though I have regularly seen buffalo and lions around Shabeni koppies. We always enter through Numbi and pretty much do Shabeni and Fayi, then take the Napi or Albasini towards Skukuza or Doispane. Stiil, there is a resident cheetah on the Albasini and there are lots of ellies and leopards around.

It is a good area on occasion, it just really sucks to drive through if you don't see anything compared to more open areas.

We spent two nights at PK at the end of May and were happy to leave :D
Grass is very long, especially at roadside and the bush very, very dense. One morning, we drove for two hours without seeing a single mammal. But...our very best leopard sighting ever was near PK, Shabeni loop to be precise. Found a young female trying to stalk a mongoose at sunset. Went back next morning and found her at the other end of the loop, where she quickly disappeared into the bush. So no quantity but quality.

Anyone been to Pkop lately? We are heading off on Friday to Pkop for a long weekend. Are there any notable sightings of late?

Hi K-4S

I don't know what has been seen lately, but ASK at reception where the 3 leopard cubs were seen last -- they should be about 7-8 monhts old now. Usually they reappear every now and then and sit in a tree on the little 1 km loop about 1.5 km east of Pretoriuskop. Just go straight in an Easterly direction when you hit the intersection (instead of turning right onto the Fayi/Voortrekker road section) and check that small loop around the koppie out, especially the tree at the end just where the road turns left...
If you do have any luck, do let us know!
God bless,
Friedrich.

We took Friday off and were at Pretoriuskop over the weekend past and we had great sightings. 3 different lion sightings. Leopard and wild dog less than 3km from the camp gate. We had these great sightings with very little antelope however. Over the entire weekend we saw three impala and four buffalo and three waterbuck. Kudu were seen aplenty on the other hand.

All in all a successful weekend!! Nice to get out of the city for a while.
