Berg en dal and Malelane area is regarded as one of the best areas to see the Leopard, people will think it is very difficult to see a leopard but if you are at the right place at the right time, it is easy.

We had leopard that were recorded at steilberg with 2 cubs and another one at s119 with 3 cubs this year. Recently a male leopard was spotted more than 6 times on the Malelane turn off to the ranger post by guides and field rangers, another territorial male was also spotted on the night drives and sunset drives at the reservoir by Malelane guides and Berg en dal guides.

On the morning walk I did with Peter we had a leopard with an impala ram on the knob thorn tree, we also had another leopard with an impala carcass on the matjulu loop while were heading to the walking area.

This is the new topic that I will report Leopard activities in our area, I will also post pictures if I get them but I will also encourage forumites to contribute by sending pictures as well.

Regards
Raymond Khosa

Hello Forumites

Another Leopard sighting yesterday afternoon around the berg en dal dam, it was drinking water at the dam and it attracted the guests that were watching birds.

In 2000 we spent an hour with a beautiful female leopard who was fishing for Catfish near one of the bridges on the H3. That in itself was amazing, but then we ealised that she had 2 cubs hidden in the3 reeds nearby!!
She must have caught over 20 of them.............not quite an Impala...........but it seemed to keep them all happy!!

THat was in the days before I took up photography, but Dungie has some (shakey) video clips!!
