We were in Kruger during December and loved it! Now we want to go back in March and do a couple of the Wilderness Trail hikes, mainly Bushman's Trail (16 Mar) and the Wolhuter (19 Mar).

However we cannot figure out how to book the hikes on-line. The site keeps sending us back to booking inside the rest camp, in this case, Berg-en-dal.

What are we doing wrong? The site seems to say that there are openings.

Thanks in advance.

Have you made your accommodation bookings yet?
Possibly this is required and then when booking the trails just quote the reservation # as reference where it will be added to your account.
You might have to do this by e-mail?

No, because we aren't planning to stay in any camp since we are on the wilderness trails. Just flying in to do the hikes, then flying out when done.

I guess we will have to email them on the specifics.

Thanks

We are visiting KNP for the first time in April and will be staying at 2 camps for a total of 6 nights. We have pre-booked a morning game walk, morning drive and an evening drive and of course will be doing self drive at other times. Would appreciate advice regarding 'evening braai's' - would you recommend, should we book in advance or take our chances on arrival.

Warm welcome to the forum meowburt!

Bush braai's have to be booked with the camp you want to do it with and there is a minimum number of 4 people required before they will accept a booking so contact them and see what can be arranged.

Have a read through Bush Braais and breakfast for lots of info and advice.

Location: Germany (Bühl) - but dreaming of Africa!
hi,

I´m going to KNP in December - my first time in south african summer

We booked a morning walk in Olifants although we are not staying there overnight but in Balule.
But I guess that is not a problem, right?

I asked this in my booking reservation but didn`t receive an answer – only the booking confirmation.
So I presume this is fine.
But as for some activities in certain camps you have to stay there overnight I am not 100% sure.

Thanks for a quick feedback.

Greetings from Germany

You will be picked up by the guides from Olifants for your morning walk at Balule.

For most of the SANParks activities one does need to be staying overnight in the camps.

There are walks/drives that one can do while staying outside the park and you pay extra for those.

Hi, hopefully the forums members might be able to help my query..?

I recently booked my accommodation via the online system for March 2015 and tried to add a few night drives/early morning walks to the booking as well.
Unfortunately I just kept getting an error message saying 'you need to have accommodation at this camp in order to book this activity'.
In the end I gave up but I wonder if I was doing something wrong. Is it worth trying again now the accommodation has been confirmed?

Any help much appreciated! Thanks, Rob

Hi Brawler0,

We have rules in place for activities, such as the activity needs to be booked at the same camp as the accommodation, which has further rules for the night of the activity or the previous night.

If you can give me the combination, I will do some tests to confirm the rules are accurate.

I will need the camp you are booking accommodation for, the dates, and then what activities and the dates

Thanks

Hi Stevenjm,

Thanks very much.
Just tried again but still doesn't seem to work. It recognises I have an existing booking but when I try to add an activity I still get the following error:
"Error Adding Activity: To book this activity you are required to have an accommodation booking at this camp"
I have the following camp bookings (and am trying to book the following activities)
Mon 16th March: L Sabie
Tues 17th March: L Sabie (Night Drive)
Weds 18th March: L Sabie
Thu 19th March: Satara
Fri 20th March: Satara (Morning Walk)
Sat 21st March: Satara
Sun 22nd March: Mopani
Mon 23rd March: Mopani (Night Drive)
Tues 24th March: Mopani
Weds 25th March: P Maria
Thurs 26th March: P Maria
Fri 27th March: P Maria (Morning Walk)

Let me know if you need anything else. Many thanks, Rob
