So, I had another wondeful trip into KNP again this year with my wonderful girlfriend. Spent 5 nights at LS and thought I would share some of the pics that we managed to take.

My favourite was from the morning walk with Irwing and Martjie.....

For those of you who have not yet had the pleasure of going on a walk with Irwing and Martjie, I suggest you make a plan the next time you in the park and atr LS. The walk was unbelievable. I credit the whole experience to the professionalism of our two guides. Without their infinite knowledge of the bush and their wonderful sense of humour and personality, I dont think I would have enjoyed the walk as much.

We managed to track a white rhino from the minute we got of the vehicle and started walking. Irwing made a wonderful effort to get us involved and to see what he was seeing, when he looked at the tracks. Explaining to us how the rhino had trip over a log that had been turned over and showing the us the spoor/tracks of the rhino and where the mud from its feet had scratched off on the log.



This is Irwing wondering how he lost the tourists?!?!?!





Irwing and Martjie, the two of you are definately the CSI of the bush and win my vote any day. Thanks for the wonderful experience!!!

Now back to the sightings...

Also saw plenty cheetah, 9 in one day, lion, massive herd of buffalo, elephant, rhino, leopard, hyena, porcupine, ostrich.... the list goes on and on and on and on..... in other words the only thing we never saw was wild dog

Went on a sunset drive with Robert, this was also brilliant and he was very good as well. Only thing was that all the lights stopped working after about an hour or so, apparently due to all the rain so the plug points were a bit faulty...(maybe some silicone and duct tape next time to sort out the problem? )

My spot of the holiday was however a picture that I got of a Birchell's Coucal going into its nest to feed its young and then coming out again to pose for a photo be fore leaving! Was amazing as I know how shy they are, so was gobsmacked to be able to experience something like that.



Was lucky enough to be in the park when the Sabie flooded it banks......AWESOME sight ...... but more amazing was watching the dry river beds that feed into the Sabie river fill with water....was unreal

The only complaint I have is that I had to go home!!!

I am hooked on the toasted bacon egg and cheese sandwiches...mmmmm...yummy yummy but my most enjoyable was braaing in the rain with an umbrella ( I wasnt going to give up that easy )

Hi all!! Here is pics from another sunset drive I did with Martie on 23 December.

Sunset….


Martie found about 7 Cameleons that evening. This one was the smallest I have seen for a while! Note that it is as big as her thumb!!


My highlight was the white tailed mongoose and the small chameleon!

Well... the end to a wonderful stay at Lower Sabie. Thanks Martie!!

Martie send me these photos now. This is how the Sabie river looks this morning! Apparently the people that went north this morning cannot return because a bridge between LS and Skukuza has washed away.

MGODDARD, LORRAINEPRING and 3DGREEK – the bird is a red-billed quelea, funny enough he made it through his struggle. With all the long wet grass and his flapping his wings the whole time, the web got damaged and he flew of to freedom.

Yesterday highlight, Porcupine and again the big pride at Tshokwane {16 not in the 25+ as last year}

Today, LS overcast

This morning Lioness on the hunt at Gezantfombi Dam, H4-2 {CB}. Spend some time there. Just as I left, the Impala came for water. Lost my spot and had to shoot from the bridge. To far away. Light was awful anyway.

But just look at the giant strides, dust on the left hand side.


Otherwise the normal A-Z.

But Cheetah at S29, Mlondozi Road. About 90m away, even with a 600mm lens at that distance and bad light, photos nothing special. Just enjoy. {No Post Processing, except crop}
