We were also lucky enough to get to see the s100 6 cheetah - sounds like possibly the same sighting as it was around the same time (we also had lions cross the road and descend to the riverbed straight afterwards)
Fantastic to see especially as we have never had good fortune on the s100 up until this trip and never had many good cheetah sightings at all in the park!

Could only manage to get a shot of 4 of them at the same time though!

6 cheetah on the s100!!!!!
Next you will be posting pics of Bigfoot,Unicorn and Yeti!
Only joking,my "love to hate road" as in all my trips it has promised so much but failed to deliver.
I would rather do the tar to Nwanetsi then north past Gudzani.
Forest or County?

In early Feb at Shingwedzi we saw a lone cheetah on the H1-7 about 1km south of Boyela in the middle of the road. We were the only car there the entire afternoon and we sat with her for about 40mins before she moved off into the bush. Very lucky indeed!!

When we got back to Shingwedzi we wanted to mark it on the sightings board but there weren't even cheetah markers on the board to mark it with - possibly eluding to the rarity of the sighting that far up North.

SusieB, you lucky fish!
That is rather special. Most likely they will have split up by the time I get there next month!

Yup, the S100 - S41 - H6 loop is very good for cheetah.
We had 3 seperate sightings on 2 drives this past December.

What wonderful sightings Ekoppen and SusieB!

A few days after Yodas post in late May I drove S100, S41 and H 6 one morning; On S100 rhino, buffalo and elephants; on S41 a female lion in the grass and a LIT, of which it was not possible to get any good photos; On H6 after checking out the Sonop WH, a car had spotted a cheetah walking along the road. It turned out to be 2, brothers likely, who both jumped up on the Sonop road stone. Unusal sighting and photos to me. It did only last 2-3 minutes but there were only 3 cars.

It really was a rewarding morning drive which also including many special birds.

Hi Birgitta, I was there 3 weeks ago, and saw no predators on the S100, but 2 lions on the S41. The H6 tar road was very good -- those same 2 cheetah brothers stalked some impala -- 1 sat in the road and the other went hundreds of meters to get behind them, then chased them right into the trap. I suspect both killed an impala each, but one ended up doing it right in front of the vehicle in front of us, so we missed the action, but saw the rest. Strangely, he left his kill next to the road (only 5 cars, no harassment), and went to his brother further away...
If you check on Latest Kruger Sightings, it seems as if they love the H6.
So do I!

Thanks for sharing and God bless,

Birgitta,

Pleased to hear this loop was as productive for you, as it was for me

Am hoping it will continue to be so this coming December.

Hello ekoppen

Thinks for the precise location of your cheetahs. Will be in Pretoriuskop and Skukuza in Sept, am hoping Chester will be waiting for us.

Bridget

Hi Bridget,

Of all places, I have found Pretoriuskop the most reliable for cheetah sightings...lol... yes!
Two years in a row I have done gate-opening time drives from Pretoriuskop to Transport dam, and found the 2 brothers about 4 km west of the Transport dam turnoff in the road! First time I was shooting the sunrise, and when I put my camera down, found 2 cheetahs lying in the road looking at me!
I tried it again this July, but did not find them! Thought they were gone after 2 tries. Neighbour told me he had seen them the same day, but only later...
Next morning I was first car out, steady speed all the way, nothing. Chatted to neighbour at hyena den after Transport Dam, and he says: Did you see the cheetah in the road? NO! He was 1 minute behind me all the way, and I missed it!
So they are still there...
Also have had good luck (2 years) on the S3 road about 3 km before the Phabeni tar road crossing, coming from Pretoriuskop side -- a male marking territory. Missed him this time (but had a wild dog in same spot). Neighbour spotted 3 young cheetahs in the exact same area that day, a bit later on. So don't skip that spot either!

Let us know what you found!
God bless,
Friedrich von Hörsten
