Andrew posted this yesterday:
Andrew Desmet posted to Andrew Desmet Support Group

Hi Everyone... Sorry for the delay in sending out news... Huge thank you for messages of support, prayers, thoughts - I cannot describe how much stronger it makes me. I've been in the high care ward for four days now... Things seem to be slowly on the mend ... Hip/ leg still swollen and very tender but doctor is happy with the way the recovery is progressing... I started mobilizing yesterday and twice walked down to the bathroom (about 20m away) ... I'm moving to one of the general wards later today and will also be receiving a dose of radiation to try halt excessive bone deposits around injury..otherwise culture results from bone & bullet fragments removed during the operation indicate no infectious bacteria.. Which is a big positive...thanks again ... Hope you all have a wonderful day

Thanx DB. Andrew hang in there. Been down that road and the only advice I can give is to follow the doctor's and physio's instructions. If you do that your recovery will be some much more.

Andrew and Family, i know this is a bit long, but always remember these words. God Bless.

Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."

He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."

 Get well soon.

Just to get out of the intensive care unit is enough to make one feel so much better Andrew! Glad you have started walking! Wishing you a speedy recovery!

And posted by Andrew this morning:
Andrew Desmetposted to Andrew Desmet Support Group

Hello.... I'm being discharged today... ... So I'm very excited to be allowed to go and recover at home... Strict instructions not to put any weight on left leg for six weeks and to be very careful not to dislocate it... Had radiation treatment yesterday and that all went smoothly... hip and leg still very sore, swollen and tender but that should sort itself out with time... wound is looking okay and staples can come out after two weeks... i hope you all have a lekka weekend! Thx again for all messages, prayers and support... They have really helped me to get over what should be the last major hurdle of my recovery ... It's been a real miracle to have gotten this far and I thank you all for all the support. GOD has blessed me!
