We just got back from a fantastic trip to South Africa where we used the wild card. The wild card was set to expire on the last day of our trip. At least two different times, when we were asked for it, we were told it was expired (they had stuck it in the card reader). This happened at Orpen and later at Boulder's Beach in Cape Town. Between that it worked fine at Lower Sabie. Luckily I had the print out confirmation showing the dates and that was accepted (you will need to show ID with it too). I highly suggest taking the confirmation letter along as backup, We weren't offered any explainations so not sure if this is a common problem or just our bad luck.

Hi Kellyee21 - the same thing happened to us in February/March. The card was accepted at Mokala; had problems at Karoo National and Addo but was sorted out in Mountain Zebra. Apparently there is a new numbering system in place at Wild Card but not all the cards have been linked to the new system. It was at Mountain Zebra that we got the full story and where Tjali at reception phoned Wild Card and linked our "plastic" number (the one on the card) with the "system" number on the Wild Card data base. Since then - no problems!

On our recent visit to Kruger, on entering at CB we were told that our wild card was not valid, luckily we had our confirmation letter with us proving we had renewed it, They took our card and wrote a new number on it with koki pen, seems our card had a different number than our letter.

How do I go about getting a card with the correct number on it, surely when I renewed my wild card they should have sent me one with the correct number on it, it's very confusing having 2 different numbers

Carol, when you renew your wildcard you should have a confirmation letter with a number on it.
That is a different number to your wildcard number, and you need to phone the wildcard people to "link" the 2 numbers. it sounds complicated but was very easy to do, even for this dumb blonde!!

More confusion to the wild card fiasco. Hope ours will be in working condition later in the year.

Why should I as the customer phone to get the numbers linked or to whatever system to have a card that is in working condition?

Agree 1000% with Markus, this new WildCard system continues to be a customer-service fiasco :wall:

This wild card is good for the forestry industry. All those confirmatiion papers being printed, made from plantation trees. Sanparks keep up the good work, your effieciency is promoting the demand for paper !

Where is my chainsaw ?
Let me cut down another tree to make the next batch of wild card confirmations !

Seroiusly, do we still have a wild card problem ????????
Outsource to a competant service provider.
