I renewed my card sometime last year after the change over. I've not used the letter once since then. I just hand over my old card and everything gets processed just fine. Have not had a single problem doing it this way. Did so again this past weekend, as did my parents with their couple card.

This is useful — if puzzling  — information, I'll hope it's still true in September. I renewed my WildCard just before the changeover. To be safe, I'll have the letter, but it's sure a LOT easier to just hand over the little plastic card that travels in my wallet than to have produce (and remember to carry with) a far-less-convenient letter.

The organizational chaos that the WildCard programme appears to be in, as well as the lack of ANY benefits (other than reduction of conservation fees), plus the increase in the already high cost for overseas visitors certainly does not encourage me to renew my card automatically as I have up till now. In the past I never worried much about when I'd be using the card, because I supported the concept of the programme, but now .... Unless I have specific plans for a visit of multiple nights, there is far less reason to be a WildCard holder. Paying the daily fees for the Cape parks that I visit frequently will be far less costly than investing in another card when my current one expires. It is sad, I think, that whether or not be become a WildCard holder becomes a purely economic decision, rather than one of supporting the WildCard programme and the parks. I am appalled at this ongoing saga of WildCard lack of service delivery.

I have noticed, on various websites, that abroad the people are starting to complain heavily about the outrages price difference of the Wildcard and Conservation fees they have to pay in comparison of the Saffas.
A lot of them are avoiding the SanParks because of that same reason now.

If we want to keep them coming to the SanParks we should get the cards to them ASAP instead of them having to take a piece of paper with them that can get lost, torn etc easily.

Okay everyone, here is a "wild" question, has anyone actually received a card from the "new system" ? I don't know what the "Infinity" people did wrong before sanparks took back the "wild card", but at least we had some benefits from it AND we got our cards on time.!!!! Figure that one!!!!! :wall:

I understand that its a bit frustrating not to have received our new cards yet but I promise you the confirmation letter with your updated details works just fine.
We entered the park this month many times using that method and never had any hassles at all, in fact at Croc Bridge one doesn't even need to get out of the car, merely drive up to the window, hand the paper over and that's it.

Jock even renewed her card at the gate as well and as I had already updated her details and had the confirmation letter, all they did was staple the payment slip onto it.

When I renewed my card earlier this year I was given a different and new number so I don't think using the old expired card would have been any good.

We also had no problem in Kruger in December, again in March, and also at various KZN smaller parks.
The letter is all they need. I even misplaced mine in March, and they just looked us up on the computer and printed us another one.

Whether you are renewing an old card with your details updated, or buying a completely new one, all will be fine.

When in Kruger during march used my old card and the new info was in the computer and never had
any problem.

As long as there is proof, either on paper or in the computer

Most of us know that there is no problem entering the parks, as long as you have paid and updated your details. The point is, why does Sanparks continue to lie about the forwarding of the cards? Why do they not tell the truth? They have put up such a poor show :rtm:

It would be nice if one of the mods would try to get an answer from SanParks
a) when they intend to forward the wild cards ?
b) what will be the promised benefits for wild card holders ?

The lack of information is really frustrating.

Who has recieved a WildCard yet ?

Unread postby forestgump » Thu Jun 23, 2011 6:39 pm

On the Sanparks Facebook site this week, Sanparks asked everyone to put up there hand if they have not received their wildcard yet
Why stir everyone up if they know ,that we have not received our cards? :wall:
I have phoned several numbers and my details are correct , yes I am on the system but they are printing batches at a time, but cannot tell me when I will recieve a card. Sounds like a disorganized organization, if you ask me. Maybe I am used to dealing with large private companies on a day to day basis in business, and expect too much from Sanparks.

It may seem trivial that the cards are maybe 8 months late from when we paid for them , or that we have been told that they have been posted, but TRUST gets lost in the management of Sanparks if they cannot get a simple thing as this right, or be HONEST about it.

Is there anyone out there who has recieved a physical card, and when ? I would like to know, maybe mine has been lost in the post with everyone elses.
This topic should not be locked, it should rather be solved.

I have not received mine yet despite having paid for a new WildCard late last year.

I agree with you, forestgump, 'Trust gets lost.'

Pathetic if you ask me!! :wall: :wall:
