That is one weird looking buff.

Its right eye also looks strange, not sure if its just an illusion and it seems to have a round mark on the forehead.

A slight defect in the genes? And indeed an odd little wound(?).
To me the head is too small as well, but that could be optical illusion due to the fact that the horns are misformed.
Arriving currently: The photos from our trip! Overhere! :yaya:

No, Unfortunately I have not been able to get to the museum at Skukuza for many years, will definitely have to make a plan.

Its eye looks normal from that angle, but some sort of injury to its forehead.

A sad looking buff :(

Wow
Were it very compromised genetically, getting to this age would be a problem. Yet a very "not ok" looking beast.
You should make your picture available to "the powers that be".
I am sure there is someone ut there who understands something significant.

Its one of the new , hunter and lion friendly buffalos that are being bred these days :P .

Just kidding , shew , this is indeed not a well looking animal ,
the body is also in poor condition , and if you look , the "boss"
of the horns is also very poorly formed , indicating that the
problem is an abnormality , rather than damage/injury.

I have seen a buff with the complete opposite of this , with long thin horns that drooped to the ground , also in a very poor condition ,and after researching it a bit found that if a
male buffalo looses its genitalea during puberty , that it can cause the horns to become badly misformed ,i wonder if this is the case here ?
As for the wound , bullet wound maybe , but i doubt it would survive a shot in the head , unless its a very old wound and is what caused the horn abnormality , who knows .

definately going to have to search through the albums and scan in some slides of the buff i saw to add to this thread .
