I read about this cat over the weekend and was wondering if any of you had sightings of them in our parks.

Small-spotted cat / Black Footed cat / Anthill tiger / Felis Nigripes

Has anyone on this forum ever seen or taken a photo of the Small-spotted cat?
It must be very rare. I can't find a lot of photo's of it on the internet.
If you have some photo's, please post them.

I've never heard of a small spotted cat with regard to African mammals - the closest cat that has small spots is the Black-footed Cat - maybe that's what you're wanting?

According to AltaVista, it may be a genet.

Not easy to spot ....

On my trip to Mapungubwe there were posters asking about sightings of this lovely little cat. It looks very beautiful, but extremely shy.

Yes, it seems that the small-spotted cat is the same as the Black-Footed cat:

small spotted cat???? Anyway a black footed cat does not exist in Ktruger, it is to wet and moist. It mainly occur in Semideserts or in Mountain Areas like the Maluti Mountains. this cat is a litle bit smaller then the African Wild cat. The african wild cat is the onlxy enemy.

In May this year we came across a Small Spotted Cat north of Kubu Island in Botswana, which was freshly run over. It was very yellow with the spots not that distinct. Will try to get photo taken by fellow traveller and post it here, not before 2mrw. Think it was a kitten.
