Please can someone help id this bird I spotted on the S25 in Kruger, it seems to look like a Pale chanting goshawk but is it true that only Dark chanting goshawks are in Kruger?

Definately Dark Chanting Goshawk, one can tell them apart frm Pale Chanting, the most obvious being the lack of the pale secondary panel in the wing........and distribution also helps, but one must always keep in mind...birds have wings...... :D

Yes, only DCGs occur in Kruger.

Hello,

any idea of what this may be ?

If you notice carefully you'll see it has captured a snake! I saw it flying with the snake but unfortunately it went too far for a good pic.

I'd go for the Southern Pale Chanting Goshawk

No, not likely in KNP. Wrong distribution.

Hi Micmic ,

I think Imberbe is probably right.
By the way , did it catch a snake while you were watching - I think I can see one to the right of its leg?
