Hi,

I have booked 2 chalets (CH2 and CH4-Pens) at Storms River Mouth. Can anyone tell me what the accommodation is like? Or even have a picture for me? I have looked on the Sanparks website, but can't find photos or much info.

The CH4's can be seen here. Click the little photos for larger versions. The same works for the other bungalows.

Thanks I had a look at it seems great, but I can't find the pics for CH2. Are the similar to CH3?

Also, whereabouts are these chalets? Are they close to the parking lot or camping? We would prefer to be a bit quiter.

Camp Map The map is not that clear, but if you saved it on your computer and zoom in, you would find the CH4 and CH2 chalets to the right of the map (nearer to the shop and restaurant)

How is your group made up? Seems to be 6 people.

Have you considered 2 CH3 units. If you can get 2 adjoining they have an inter-leading door. That will give you two separate bedrooms with twin beds and two single beds is the 2 lounges. (That is better than twin bunk in lounge)
Their view is excellent and it is relatively quiet. We have just stayed there for 2 nights in a CH3.
The Ch4-PENS don't have such a good view, rather consider the Ch4 then.
Budget wise the Forest Cabins can also work if you just look for a place for kids to sleep. We have done that in the past because the CH3 have a big enough lounge.

Thanks for the info. We are actually just 2 of us, with a baby. First time going on holiday with her, so it should be exciting all round Just wasn't sure about the chalets, but it was the only accommodation going so I took it We are going away in Dec and we could only get CH4Pens from 23 to 27 and then CH2 from 27 to 2 Jan. So I took what I could get. It is a beautiful area. I have done part of the Otter trail (tore a ankle ligament so couldn't finish) on my own so I want to show it off the my hubby!

Any advice or more info will be greatly appreciated!

If you go that time of the year you must grab what you can get.
All acomodation are great.
The CH2 are close to the parking, but it is still private in the front where your stoep are. I presume that you will spend a lot of time away from your chalet in any case. The Ch4-Pens are close to the swimming pool, and that is also an advantage. The Ch2's have all been completely rebuilt and are spanking new.

Dear friends, forumites and especially Tsitsikamma-specialists,

Two questions!

1: I have a booking for an oceanette. At the time of booking all chalets were fully booked for the date I booked for. However, I just found out by browsing the availability pages that one chalet became available. It is CH4s (Chalet 4 bd S-d). Would you people recommend to change? Or is it not worth it. I have the impression that this chalet is very close to the ocean (it is a bit more expensive than the other chalets) but of course I could be wrong.

2: How to change the booking? I can not do it by phone (no international connection from the workplace and only home very late) so I would prefer to do it by e-mail. Would it be best to mail reservations@sanparks.org or do you recommend other "more direct" e-mail addresses.

This is a difficult one, but rest assured both are winners!!!

We have found the Oceanettes exceptional for their view of the ocean and it is one of the best spots for watching the dolphins. Some people do however say that the Oceanettes is like a modern block of flats (apartments), and that is true. The chalets have a completely different feeling to them.

The CH4 S(emi) D(etached) have just been completely rebuilt/refurbished and is indeed right next to the ocean. Also better for an outdoor braai.

If you are going to spend more time indoors, then go for the chalets. If you are going to watch the ocean all the time, go for the Oceanettes, provided it is one with an elevation - Not unit O, P, Q or R.

If you are going to spend most of the times walking around - toss a coin.

Thank you VERY much Hoephoep! Sounds like a difficult one indeed! But Since you say the chalets are right next to the ocean, I think I will try changing. Nice for braaiing and even though the chalets are semi-detached I reckon the balconies are still private, no?

Would you perhaps know where exactly this CH4 SD chalets are exactly? I just had a look at the plan on the Tsitsikamma-site itself and I was lucky enough in the past to stay in units 16A and 7A. I think these CH4SD are chalets 1 to 6. Am I right?

Some detailed questions I know but I have the impression you know an awful lot bout this camp

No, I don't know an awful lot about this camp - I love the place an awful lot!

I just phoned SRM and there are only two CH4 units, numbers 5 and 6 on the map. If you stayed in #7 in the past, you should no what to expect.

Unit 7 in the foreground and 5 and 6 behind it - right next to the ocean - the stoep is almost over the rocks! Can't get any closer!
