thanks again for the help..

Where did you see these guys? As for the Cisticola would like to work on it a bit before I possibly agree with RJ (seeing as we seem to "agree to disagree"!)

I'm still stuck on my previous two birds. I've found some more pictures of the second one which may make it easier  . I have searched all my books, and the internet and I still don't know what it is :wall: Any help/ideas would be very much appreciated.

Looks like a Rattling Cisticola to me.

Looks like a Rattling Cisticola, but I am never very good in pointing out the characteristics of this bird. They do always sit perched like this in the bushveld, have quite a dull back, a dull rufous crown and a curvy bill. Well, those were a few characteristics I suppose.

Hi Flutterby,

I think your last one is a Rattling Cisticola. Combination of Rusty coloured, plain head, streaking to back and flight feather markings point to this species. Location and habitat also a clue. This is one of the commonest Cisticola's in the park in my limited experience. Would like confirmation from others with more experience on this one though.

(I'm enjoying your TR by the way).

Hi there,

I need some help identifying these - all taken in the Pilanesberg - and I apologise for the poor quality of some of them. I hope I'm not putting too many but I have now lost my patience!

1-Rattling Cisticola (Has the tails spots on a long tail, rules out lazy and neddicky)

2- Rattling Cisticola
