If I may give a hint...
I usually buy 2 mapbooks. One I keep in pristine condition (need a new one now, it's at work for some odd reason, and getting rather thumbed), and one I mess on.
I mark sightings on it, where I made panoramic photos and which way I was looking, and another little thing..
I make photos of surroundings, even noting the time/date, and use them later for the Where am I quiz. And need the reference! That's always great fun to play..

I have just received this map and thought it very useful in order to calculate distances from the various towns around the park.

Fantastic!

Although we know the area pretty well, this map is very clear and stylised. It leaves out all the other features which tend to clog up other maps, in cases when all you want are road numbers and distances.

PLEASE help ... I am looking for the Distance table that shows travel time & KM's between camps. Used to be on the old website, so far all I can find is travel times from gates to camps.
Can anyone point me in the right direction or post a link?

I have the latest software of Garmap and all the maps loaded.

Now to my knowledge and printed maps of KNP I have seen there is quite a number of roads available to travel on Garmap and it is more that are shown on the printed maps?

Is there anybody that has traveled some of these additional roads or are they management roads as well?

I am trying to map all my roads and once in KNP to tell Mr Finkelstein (GPS) where to go to and from there I can just laze away and drive and if I am waiting I can also check my time of arrival and kilo's left.

It always ends up in where to go? Where is the map? Give the map to me!

Mr Finkestein will talk to me and I will steer into that direction!

You are only allowed to drive a small amount of roads, the rest is indeed management roads, roads for "reserved guests only" (like to bushcamps or consessions) and firebreaks.
And 4x4 tracks of course, which you are not allowed to do with anything but a 4x4,

David Maritz , beware of those Garmap roads . I assisted confused people near Orpen dam in December with directions , they thought they were at Orpen gate , this was minutes before gate closing time and they still had 2 hours of travelling to the gate .

I would really like to have the indication of the GPS with me but if it works it does, if not I want to know where I am and so can I do with the printed map.
Anyhow do not travel with out the map anywhere... Batteries doe go flat maps DO NOT!

Hi I really believe everyone should have a printed map, but I will say we have a Tom Tom GPS and I really must say it was fantastic having it in Kruger .
It shows you the distance to the next prerecorded destination for E.G Satara to Letaba and it keeps on adjusting the time it will take to get there, at the speed you are traveling at, so can't be late, very handy, even on a dirt road in the middle of the bush.

Although no guide book can match this forum in information about the kruger, I like to get one guide book to the places I´m going to visit, this one

seems to be a good one, anyone knows if it´s good, or if I should try to buy another one?

There are 4 or 5 map/guide bboks one can get at the Kruger gates and camps for about 6 euros. They are all good, and some come in different languages, but the one I recommend is by the Tinkers.

But there are good maps which can be bought in Kruger
Some with animal ids

The map books, especially the ones with the bird and animal ids, are invaluable.
