Great pics of the Starlings everyone. My personal experience is that it is not an easy bird to get a decent picture of.

What a beaut of a bird it is.

I saw quite a few of them now in the Pretoriuskop area, but as WTM says, it is a difficult bird to photograph and all my photo's are not so good..

Saw this Violet-backed Starling in Satara Camp in Feb this year.
was wondering if its also a juv. with the yellow gape. :?

This one used to return every year to a tree outside my bedroom window when I lived in Nelspruit. Him and his SO could be seen almost every day in summer. This pic was taken from my bedroom window.

Saw these guys last week a few Kms out of Berg en Dal. I am a fledgling birder and we had no idea what we saw till I saw this post. Not the best pic but definitely the same bird, I really thought I had spotted some sort of sun bird because of the color but hey what do I know but it was a nice sighting.
