Any comments on the tarred road from Satara to N'wanetsi
Like to try it a bit more that the S100.

One of the better roads in the Park. Far better than it's northern neighbour! Saw on one trip on this road, Rhino, Elephant, 2 Honeybadgers foraging and LIPS. One of those worthy roads in the Park. Beautifull area. Part of the Sweni area. Open savanah scattered with lonesome trees here and there. Don't waste any more time on the S100. Take this jewel next time.

I am thinking along the same lines.

Make a round trip of it, H6 there and return on the S100.

On evry visit we take the S100, then S41 towards N'wanetsi and H6 back to camp.

S100 has in the past delivered some great sightings but normally not as much as other roads. The S100 is however the place were we nearly always get to se Secretary birds and general game. We also had great lion sightings on this road and nearly all was in the area close to Shibotwana waterhole.

The part of the S41 down to N'wanets has on 3 of our last 5 visits awarded as with Eland (the only other place I've ever seen an Eland in Kruger was at N'wanetis waterhole on the S131 west of Letaba)

From N'wanetsi we always take a trip down to the Sweni Birdhide and the return to the H6. The H6 at times can be devoid of animals but we had some great lion sightings on this road and Sonop waterhole sometimes deliver animals close by.
Animals that we have seen on this road: lion, elephant, giraffe, wildebeest, kudu, waterbuck, impala, warthog, zebra, buffalo

Is the idea. Then we miss the traffic havoc during the first hours on the s100.

I second DB's suggestion. Traffic shouldnt be too rough on the S100 now.. with the no-entry sign but seriously, I guess the more people that are looking, the more you could see...

H6 is always worth a visit especialy because it has open savanah vegetation. Notice the firebreak roads in blocks - part of fire regime experiments - see how each one is different due to different burns.
Special memories - lion at kill at Sonop and often Cheetah .
After the S100 1st in morning half the times will go up Gudzane road and other half down to Nwanetsi & the H6.
Also often a good bet for afternoon drive when you don't want to be on a gravel road (S100) with the sun in your eyes and you have a nice stop in middle at N'wanetsi viewpoint. Ideal excuse to have that preliminary sundowner and set the mood.

Was once stuck in the biggest herd of elephant ever on that road.

The one morning we stopped for breakfast at Nwanetsi picnic spot after an uneventful drive on the famous S100. As we were leaving someone told us that there were 3 cheetahs on a kill on the H6. In our excitement, on the way to the cheetah, we almost drove straight past a large black-maned lion lying on the side of the road (the first & only one I've ever seen), didn't stay too long but he wasn't going anywhere so we vowed to come back. Cheetah sighting was excellent about 20 metres from the road with an impala kill. After leaving cheetah sighting although it was 2 hours later, we went back to spot but unfortunately our black-maned friend had dissapeared. Just to round off a great drive, towards the end of the H6 we came across an awesome sighting of african wildcat.

However overall I must say that the S100 has been extremely kind to me with lion sightings on most occasions I've driven this road.
