We came across a female baboon recently who was carrying around a dead baby. We felt so sorry for her, you could really see the pain in her eyes. She let nobody near it and refused to let it go... :cry:

Heard this on Monitor, a news/actuality programme on RSG this morning. Renewed conservation efforts are being made in the Tablemountain NP concerning Chacma baboons, with money made available by a government body. Anybody with more and more accurate info? I missed a large bit of the story.

Thanks Wildtuinman, exactly what I was looking for.

We do tend to forget a baboon is probably the animal most influenced by human encroachment. Good to hear something is done in their favour for a change.

i really love watching baboons!

my last visit to KNP was also the first trip of my girlfriend to africa - and she couldn`t stop watching baboons - especially the young ones :lol:

I love baboons. Could watch them for hours.

This is my favorite pic from my visit 3 weeks ago.
