I'm planning to travel this road between Pretoriuskop and Afsaal with a trailer. Can anyone tell me if its in good condition?
Any good sightings lately on this road?

I've done this road a few years ago and you get places that is very narrow. Not enough space to turn around with a trailer if a big ellie stands in the middle of the road. Didn't see much on it. Also 2 places where you cross very narrow low water bridges. If you drive it in the late afternoon with the sun setting before you it can get tricky to get over those bridges because the sun reflects on the water and you can't see the edge of the bridge.

I think the Voortrekker road is one of the best drives in S Kruger and no problem at all for a trailer....you have rare antelope..(Sable, Reedbuck, Lichtensteins Hartebeest, etc) Lots of White Rhino, and beautiful ship mountain..ja I would definitely go for it if I were in your position

No. And there were quite a few "riffles" in it, but it is in good condition. I had an excellent leopard sighting on it a few days ago.

We travelled that road a few months ago and it wasn't to bad. But we never used it with a trailer before.

You'll be fine with a trailer.

The Voortrekker Road has always been a bit hit and miss for us, but on the "hit" end of the scale we've seen all the Big five, plus wild dog.

Also, as others have mentioned, you can see Lichtenstein's Hartebeest and it's the only place I've ever seen a caracal/rooikat.

Keep your hair on Yahya,

Also on V'trekker Rd.

At end of april, I woke a cheetah about 12 km from Pkop, and it played in the road for about 10 minutes then trotted away from us and eventually off into the bush. When we got to Afsaal, the first left turn south of it had wild dogs about 50 metres down, on the road.

Next day, a leopard scampered down a no entry road closer to Pkop, the one where the sign is coming off.

Hi All

Going to Kruger on the 1st of May.
We are coming through Malelane Gate and travelling through to Pretoriuskop. I am thinking of taking the Voortrekker Road to get there.

Has anyone driven it recently and had any sightings of note?
