Hmm, awesome pictures but not the first time ever that pictures were taken of a leopard attack on a crocodile. I remember a series of pictures shot in Kruger by an American guy that showed a leopard attacking a crocodile.

Yeah, I've seen it before. Maybe it was the same one, only someone has now woken up!

These are the incredible pictures which show the first ever leopard attack on a crocodile.

It's not the first... I saw a leopard attack a croc... near Shingwedzi in February 2008, while a sunset drive.... but no pictures it was too dark

Yes, you south africans have probably seen these pics before when they appeared on 50/50.

Congrats with those pictures, it is a special sighting you had!

Indeed it won't be the first time a leopard killed a crocodile.

Leopards are incredible cats! They are the cat with the most diverse prey selection of any predator. They will kill big animals such as wildebeest, but think nothing of it to hunt a mouse, eat carrion or even insects. Their adaptability make them incredibly successful, enabling them to survive even in farming areas where they are persecuted, and on the fringes of cities. They often hunt dogs, domestic cats, etc. I have seen them fishing for Barbel fish.

They are also opportunistic. When they see an opportunity, they will take it. This makes them dangerous to humans too. Many humans have been taken by leopards

This leopard simply saw an opportunity for food, and took it. If you look at the photos, you will notice that that crocodile is well within the prey size limit of the leopard. A leopard is incredibly strong, and it is said that they can lift prey twice their weight in to a tree. Though the crocodile can be a worthy opponent, the leopard simply had to keep out of reach of its mouth. Crocodiles tire very fast, and he would not have been able to struggle for too long.

What a sighting. That is why we nature lovers travel around the world. But we do not have to forget that is real nature and we have to respect the park rules and to know about animal behaviour. So thank you very much Imberbe to remind us and hopefully a lot of first timers that we should enjoy instead to play risky games!

What magnificent photographs. The power of that animal

I do remember a series of photographs posted on the forum of a Leopard and Crocodile battle at the edge of the water. Once the Leopard had the Crocodile out of it's comfort zone it gained the advantage. It looked at one point as though the battle might easily have gone the other way.

Hello to all.

I read in yesterday's Daily Mirror here in the UK that a leopard had attacked and killed a crocodile at a water-hole somewhere in the Kruger Park. Unfortunately it didn't say which particular water-hole it was.

The pictures that came with the article were unbelievable and it must have been an awesome sighting for those in the area.

Please could someone tell me which water-hole it was and also tell me in which part of the Park it is located in order to assist with my search.
