Well before I get to more Augrabies and Kgalagadi plants, I have a few more from KNP and the lowveld.

1. This strange tree with the grenade-shaped fruits was close to my luxury riverview bungalow at Skukuza.

The first one is spot on, bushveld gardenia. I'd never have guessed a type of "gardenia" from just seeing those fruits!!

Hi,
On S130, Gomondwane road loop, is a big tree that grows in the middle of the road. A ranger told me its a Bushveld Gardenia. Can anyone confirm that?
Thanks
Peter

Does anyone know the species name - I could not find Bushveld Gardenia as the common name in the index of any books ?
I know the Lowveld Gardenia (ex Transvaal Gardenia) with it's lovely flowers in October .
