Central Kruger sightings : July 2005

Unread postby fevertree » Mon Jul 11, 2005 10:20 am

Some days the Park just delivers magic. Yesterday was one of those days again.
The day started with a view of a large herd of buffalo visible from Orpen Gate. They were making their way to the Orpen Cam Pan ( did anyone get to see them on the cam??). This was followed by a huge herd of ele's on the road to Satara. Not far beyond that, a magic sighting of a female leopard in the Timbavati River bed.
At Bobbejaan Krans, two male lions were spotted, and they proceeded to roar at full strength. About 5 km past Nsemani Dam, 2 rhinos (mother and large calf). The Big Five on one road in the space of 2 hours!!.
The S100 was disappointing after the sightings on the Orpen Road.
Numerous other buffalo, elephant and wonderful genral game sightings were had from Nwanedzi down to Tshokwane and the Skukuza.
All in all a great day in the Park, again.entr

I need to put that magic in perspective. All the amazing sightings were had between 6 am and 8 am . From thereon till 16.30 sightings were very sparse, if that is any consolation to you guys

 Thanks, I feel a lot better now...

That road from Orpen to Satara is one of my favourite roads. Last March I saw two leopards on that road within 300m. On other occasions I've seen cheetah, lion and more leopards on that road.

You're sooooo lucky that you can pop into the park for the day.
