27.02.2008 Mountain Zebra National Park
Mountain Zebra National Park was another „long time no see“ National Park on our route this year. During our stay in the year 2001 there were no animals in the valley close to the camp.
This time we were lucky to meet Springboks, Red hartebeests, Black wildebeests and ostrichs right after the gate.

Lovely greeting for our this year's day visit.
At the camp reception we got our permit and bought cold drinks at the shop.
Soon we were on our way to plateau. There is tarred road until the top is reached then the road continues with gravel.
Kranskop Loop was closed, so we took again the Rooiplaat Loop which I drove during our last visit. Last time there was a heavy thunderstorm at the plateau and I was very close to getting stuck in the mud due to heavy rain falls.
This time SO was driving and at the beginning the gravel road seemed to be much better. The first animals we saw at the plateau were again springboks.

A Black wildebeest paused in the high grass.

It seems the zebras recently had a lot of rain. The gravel road turned out to be more and more muddy. I already saw myself with all our luggage deep in the mud.
A little pool arrived at the road.
