BethR, are you not also an artist?

Yes, I'm a librarian, but an artist on the side...it's always been a hobby for me. One day I'd like to do more with it.

Here are a few of my older paintings, I've not done anything recently...

I'd love to post some of my artwork on the gallery, but am not sure how...

I will set up an album in the image gallery called "Public Art Gallery".

But:

1. The images cannot be high-res. Max width or height will be 500 pixels. File size of the originally uploaded image should not be more than 500 KB.

2. We cannot protect those images from being downloaded, i.e. stolen. Can you live with that?

3. No selling of art can take place online, although we would not mind if someone somewhere contacted the artist (for example via forum PM) and inquired about purchasing the art.

You can mail them to diannet@sanparks.org and she'll place them on the Gallery.

Just curious...for those of you paint... do you typically paint at home -from a picture or from memory- or have you done any painting on location in the park?

I've dragged my watercolors along and definitely a sketchbook on past trips. One of the problems is that we are on the go all day, every day. One day though, when I get back there again, I would love to park myself at some camp (like Letaba for instance -with a good view) and just spend the day painting. :D

As promised, this is a beautiful oil painting on canvas by Jay, of an African Wattled Lapwing (Plover), from one of my photos. My sister made the frame to go with it.

Dear all,

Please note that in an attempt to promote art related to SANParks, we changed the title of this thread to "SANParks Art by Forum Members".

Please refrain from posting art related to other places in the world. This is a platform where we can educate the public about SANParks and we hope you would respect the focus and determination of this site for what it is.

Hi all,
am back after quite some time... had a lovely trip to Kruger in June and since then have been brimming over with inspiration!

Here's my latest: "African Lace" based on a sunset we witnessed on our way to Kruger Gate.

(hope it's ok to say this on here, but there's more Kruger inspired art on my website!)
