Not sure what it is exactly that made me so grumpy this weekend..was it the fact that lirritma can get to Addo in half an hour and witness an awesome sighting of lions or was it the fact that I was missing out on the Cricket @ Skukuza
Either way I woke up on Sunday and decided that I also have National Parks on my doorstep so best I get out there and appreciate them.
My plan was actually to go to Cape Point via Boulders...SO was going to spend his day working on Monty( he has to get Monty ready for our trip to KTP in May......and I needed to feel the wind blowing through my hair ( that is quite easy to experience in Cape Town)
I also had a new second hand lens that I wanted to try out.
Whatever you do ...don't visit Mashona on a Friday afternoon...it could cost you a lot of money!!!!
Next step was to phone C. O'Dee...she really does have a rubbery arm.
We left home at 15h00...but unbeknown to me the Navy Festival was on in Simonstown. The traffic was
I didn't quite lose my sense of humour though and we eventually arrived at Boulders. By now it was way past 16h00 and we realised we were not going to get to Cape Point. We found ourselves a cosy possie away from most of the tourists and we let the cameras take over.
Even though it was quite windy...the sea was magnificent
There were hordes of busy penguins around.
Some were looking a bit lonely
and others were a bit shy
It seemed like some penguins were in a romantic mood ...
and others were just interested in getting down to the nitty gritty.
A few were only interested in looking at their reflections
and of course there were those getting themselves ready to go out...
We really enjoyed watching the hard working penguins come in after a day out at sea.
All in all we spent a pleasant 2 hrs enjoying antics of these delightful little creatures
The only downside...the traffic on the way home was even more horrendous...it took us over 2 hrs to do a 40min trip.
But who cares....I was thoroughly windswept and exhilarated
...cabin fever a thing of the past....until next week!
