Are pots/pans, utinsils, bowls/plates in the Biyamiti Cottages?

Anything we need to bring with us or buy on our way if we're staying at Biyamiti for 3 days?

Everything you need is there, just take your food and drinks.
Have a great trip :)

And firewood.

Biyamiti and its surrounds have always been productive, and interestingly one of the few camps where i have frequently heard the rasping call of the resident leopard

Pumbaa, an info centre at a camp is usually a display area with posters on birds, animal tracks and other interesting information on wildlife projects. like Ground Hornbills for example. You could also find snares, skulls and skeletons at such an area with information on the animals and also about poaching. Usually there would be a guide or trained person who could supply you with more information if you have questions.

Arrived yesterday at Biyamiti, our last stop on our "north to south trip"!

Reporting live from #15!

Biya is heaven as always! Birds galore at our bird bath this morning. Have done nothing else but watch them come and go, drink and bathe! So far 19 different species this morning!
including pygmy kingfisher! Red chested cuckoo calling fairly constantly and overnight. Saw him too in front of our bungalow. Sombre bulbul calling "Willie!" constantly too! But I've decided he must be invisible!!! Wont show himself!!!

Lovely drive in from Paul Kruger gate (previous 2 nights at a lodge that will remain unnamed in a private game reserve with initials SS)

Funny, how when your passenger has a toilet emergency, you will suddenly see EVERYTHING! Happened to anyone else? :)

Yesterday evening, huge herd of Ellies in front of camp, splashing, grumbling, rumbling and trumpeting. Sat watching with a drink in hand and felt like the rest of the world did not exist.

Heard some VERY strange barks after dark. Definitely NOT a baboon or a monkey. 3 or 4 barks, one at a time with long pause in between. Any ideas? Sounded very dog-like but I cant imagine its wild dog.

ciao for now. reporting live from Biyamiti!!

Muhammad, in my book Dictionary of Kruger names, it gives it as BIYAMITI, the Tsonga word meaning "where barricades had to be erected around dwelling places" derived from ku biya - to make a barricade and miti - huts and dwellings.

Previous names and/or spellings include, Embeamede, Embeamiti, Jans River, Mbeamidi, Mbilamizi, Mbiyamiti, Pretorius, and Pretorius River, and Veldkraalspruit.

But the last previous spelling seems to be Mbyamiti. and now Biyamiti. unless its changed again which I guess with its changeable history could always a possibility. :D

Hi p&m, I stayed at Biyamiti for the 1st time in July, already got a booking again for April. As far as I can remember units 1 - 9 are riverview. I stayed in No. 10 which is right opposite the birdhide. Although a mostly dry riverbed it had some pools of water and we had a whole herd of elephant big and small coming down to drink and play in the mud. The braai was a little way from the house under a tree, it really felt like being in the bush. Awesome camp you are going to enjoy it.

I have stayed at this camp a number of times. Every time we have seen the big 5 on that 19km of dirt road. The silence and peace is just wonderful. It is my favourite camp in the park. Away from the madding crowd yet close enough to Croc bridge to do an afternoon drive there to get icecreams for the kids. But it isn't necessary to go far as we see everything we need to see right there close to the camp :D

We are definitely also new fans of Biyamiti

Stayed there this February for the first time for 2 nights and fell totally in love with this camp and of the course the private 20 km road. Accommodation is at a resonable price and everything was more than clean (also the braai grid) and the fridge was one of the coldest of all camps, however, desperately searched for a corkscrew :(

A wonderful place to relax and spent ones holiday - this camp is now on our "must to stay list" whenever back in KNP.

Location: Johannesburg. but my home is where my heart is...
Just a note to tell you how impressed we were with the service we got from the staff at Biyamiti during our visit:
The sunset drive was leaving as we arrived at Biyamiti.
My daughter asked if we could join them so I inquired about possible space for the following night.
I was told that the computer system was down (and they could not confirm anything because places could also be booked from other camps) but Ezekiel promised to leave a message on my cell phone the following morning when the office opened should there be space available for that night.
Then late afternoon our fridge decided it had had enough.
I only noticed the water due to defrosting on the veranda after supper at +-8pm
We were at a loss with frozen meat to last us the remainder of our stay in the park, not to mention the beer...
We decided to listen out for the night drive vehicle to return but at 9pm thought it was getting a bit late.
My SO then drove to the camp managers house and stated our dilemma.
Within minutes Ezekiel and his helper arrived with a brand new fridge on the back of their bakkie.
Problem solved!
The next morning Ezekiel left a very polite and clear message on my phone.
When we returned from our morning drive he told me he had blocked out the 2 remaining seats on the night drive vehicle so that it could not be booked from another camp.
Now we had to make a decision - only 2 places available but we were 2 adults + my 5and1/2year old daughter...
I asked whether it would be possible for her to sit on my lap for the duration of the drive.
Ezekiel stated that it would be up to the ranger/guide and told me to come to the office at 2pm to discuss it. I was pleasantly surprised to see Ezekiel arrive at our cottage at 1.45pm with the relevant indemnity forms. He had passed my request on to Sonika, (Ranger/Camp Manager) and she agreed.
We were thrilled, my daughter especially so and we had the most amazing evening drive - getting the big 5 on top of it all!

hi all. I would just like to find out if the NCO2+2 accommodation has a shower in the bathroom. In the accomodation description it says wc and bath. Now does that mean there is a shower and a bath or does it mean that there is just a bath?

Thanks.
