I stayed at Paulsehoek house in Tankwa National Park. About 20 meters from the house there is a little waterhole where numerous birds come to drink. On the first afternoon I sat down about 3 meters from the waterhole and took shots of the general birds. The Sandgrouse however did not want to come to the waterhole with me there.
The next afternoon I parked the car close to the waterhole and left it there for about two hours for all the birds to get used to it. I then got in and although the Sandgrouse were still skittish they did come down to drink.

After taking the photo I only saw the blue colouration on the tips of some of the feathers, something I did not noticed before even though it is shown in my fieldguide. This shot was not taken at the waterhole but shortly after 6am on Friday when I left the Park.
