Crake, Corn

Unread postby Johann » Fri Jan 18, 2008 5:16 pm

Saw my first Corn Crake in the Limpopo Forest Tented Camp, Mapungubwe NP on 02 January 2008. Great way to start the year!

Wow, Johann... great shot of a rare bird, hardly ever seen in the open! A real lucky start!

Hi Johann,

I was up at LTC last week and also saw a corncrake on the road a few metres outside the camp, but I didn't get a photo!

They've also been seen regularly on the plain en route to Maloutswa Hide and on river road.

Very cool 8)

Beautiful shot! Also saw my first one while we were at Mazhou - on the river road past Maloutswa Hide there was a pool of water on the lefthand side of the road. Saw it there but no chance of a photo.

Nice one - where did you find sunshine! 8)

Why is it standing on it's tiptoes, trying to see something over the hedge?!

Haha Think that might have been the only little spot of sunshine right then. But we had good weather, 4 days of sunshine and no rain.

It was set to go off I think. It ran off straight after this shot.
