Is Bushcall trying to say quality rather than quantity??

Sometimes there is an element of parental influence?

Not sure where you are, Bert, here in UK we see few adds on telly for either (except when a new version is brought out such as Canon400D) but they are advertised a lot in mags, etc in the popular press eg Sunday Times magazine. (Not sure if I'm allowed to mention names! )You are right, though, they have the capital to advertise and hence more sales.
I think I am more influenced by word of mouth and recommendations than by advertising when choosing a product to buy.

Have to agree with Skillie, we don't see cameras advertised on TV, mainly in the rags, perhaps more word of mouth, or should I say word of photographic forum......

A little heads/up for Canon 400D users: there is a new firmware for your camera. You can download it here: http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/dc/e4kr3105.exe

This has changed:
This firmware update (Version 1.0.5) incorporates the following fixes and improvement.:
- Fixes the printing of lens names when using PictBridge.
- [Redeye 1] can now be selected when connecting with specific printers.
- Improves the reliability of communication with the Speedlite 380EX.

New toys for the boys:

Canon 1Ds Mark 3

Canon 40D

And this could be handy to take offending bits out of your photos...

Those working with Lightroom: Version 1.2 was just released. You can find it on this page.

Interesting how that program grows....

Version 1: 22.1 Mb
Version 1.1: 30.6 Mb
Version 1.2: 47.3 Mb!

Thanks DuQues!

I would think that as a fully paid and registered used of lightroom, Adobe would at least send me an email about this - but no such customer care from them!

Do you see an improvement in the speed with this new version? I like the features of lightroom, but get frustrated with it being so sss...lll...ooo...www.... And then I almost always want to do some more editing in photoshop as well - so I have just about left lightroom out of my workflow!

I'll download the update and give it another try!

I put this on the ODP website and got a few replies, but thinking that most of you take the same pics as me...what advise can you give....?

I am going to buy a Canon 40D and need to know which is the best lens to get with it. I am currently looking at the following:

EF 200 f2.8 USM or
EF 28-200 F3.5-5.6 USM or
EF 70-300 F4.5-6 IS USM

Keeping in mind that I will mostly photograph birds and wildlife, which is the best?

Thank for your help

For birds you'll need the longest lens you can get.
In case of these lenses you will be wanting to use an 1.4 teleconverter, which costs you a stop. The 40D will not give you autofocus above f/5.6 so only the EF 200 f/2.8 USM would be a handy lens. That would become an f/4 unlike the others which would become f/8...

In your list I miss the 70-200? There are different versions, with or without IS and running from f/2.8 to f/5.6. There might be one that fits your wallet, and they are very sharp!
