I am visually impaired. I used to love to watch the Orpen webcam, I still do watch it, however the camera is so far away now I cannot identify the visiting animals. Is there any possibility it could be zoomed in a little closer? Now if this is contrary to other viewer's wishes then just forget my request. Thank you.

Hi Jeanie

Great to have you posting. I'll investigate the options regarding this...you can increase the text size on the site by going to "view" on the tool bar...but the webcam images...hmmm

I'll get back to you :-)

Dianne

Oh thank you so much. Yes I know I can increase the text size and I do. I was able to see the "old" Orpen views much better, that is why I thought it was set farther away or zoomed out a bit. I am sure I am not alone with this visual problem and anything that could be done would be so much appreciated. Jeanie

I agree. I am also visually impaired and cannot ID the smaller animals, and most of the birds.

Either my eyesight has improved or the cam is zoomed a bit closer. I can now see the animals. My heartfelt thank you to all of you.

Jeanie (and BB): if you install Firefox (from www.firefox.com) then you can get the Image Zoom add-in. This lets you right-click on any image (including the webcam pictures) and choose to zoom in. You lose a bit of image quality of course, but it is much bigger.

Thank you Gwen. That sure does make it so much easier to see. DH got laid off from work Monday so my eye appointment is now on hold. Thanks so much for the tip Restio!

Hi Jeanie and Kat, I also struggle to ID animals and birds at the waterhole although the number of animals there is amazing. On Friday 3rd August someone was zooming in and Jozo and I got some really good ellie shots up close. (See cam movies, ellies at Orpen) Thanks for the tip, Restio

Can hardly notice the other side of the waterhole at Orpen...very blurry.
Maybe an adjustment to the lighting :hmz:
