I'll send in the pic - also saw a rather close-up bird a moment ago!

i am going to hazard a guess..without seeing complete bird.
In the past on previous Orpen Cam we have quite often seena Giant Eagle Owl on the cam. Saw it landing and taking off years ago. Perhaps that is what this was.
And as you can see from my post..those were three lions on cam live.
regards,
Elaine

Thanks Elaine - I was looking at something else and just flicked back to the webcam. As soon as I saw something on there, I saved the pic. By the time I'd done this the cam had refreshed so I didn't get much chance to assess what it was. Pic clearly shows lion! You may be right about the owl - it was swooping in to land on the tree the webcam is mounted on, but was a bit blurred. I've submitted the pics, so maybe Danie will be able to clarify!

up to 9th at 01h26 thus far. it is now 01h52 and also saw the wingtip of owl on right edge of cam again at 01h43! And the little jackal was again on earlier soon after the first owl sighting on cam.

A whole bunch of females and babies. Not bad for a cam - 3 of the Big5 in 24 hours! :D
