During my stay in Kruger last November I saw a pair of Tropical Boubous kill (and eat) a vine snake. As far as I know boubous eat small reptiles so snakes are probably part of their normal diet. For me this was one of the highlights of my trip.

Great pic, Madach!! Did the boubou kill the snake by stabbing it? Do you have a link to your other pix of this? I'd love to see them.

It was a pair of boubous that killed the snake. They repeatedly attacked the head of the snake until it died. In the beginning the snake was fighting back, but in the end it didn't stand a chance against those birds. I don't have a link to the other pics yet, I'm going through all my pics now and will probably have some of them online in a week or so.

I identified the bird in the photo incorrectly when I started out birding in 2005. It is actually a Southern Boubou. Moved pic to correct thread on 07/05/2012.
