Not the best-looking birds, but they are surely entertaining. We have often seen them in Kruger attacking the chrome bumpers of cars.
In Marloth they have a daily feud with the “birds” that appear in the stainless steel basis outside. They are also very fond of knocking on the windows as the early morning light creates a reflection…normally when we try to sleep in

Saw them in Croc Bridge in December, and of course when a few get together, you are in no doubt as to why they are babblers!

I think they are a very attractive bird! And one of the distinctive noises - though can be hard to tell initially from the cackling woodhoopoo. But a large flock all babbling together is fantastic!

And what bright blue eggs they have. I would love to know why that might be. Anyone care to do a case study on that?

One of my absolute favourites! I used to get groups of them in my garden, but now with all the developments they have disappreared...

Here's one from Shimuwini last month:

This Arrow-marked Babbler with a deformed bill was a regular visitor to our cottage at Biyamiti. It was always in close proximity to a small party of Babblers but never seemed to mingle with them. He also appeared more tamed than the other as he ventured it quite close to us.
