Seriously, I have has a few run-ins with eles, at nofault of mine because I keep a good distance away.

My lock forward son used to rib me about this until 3 years ago when he got a taste of ele closeness himself. Now he says 'Don't get too close Dad".

This is what an elephant did to a vehicle in the Maputo Elephant Reserve.

New windscreen, knock out the dents a bit and it's as good as new. Well......

What happened to driver & co?

According to the email I got, the occupants of the vehicle were a couple from Brazil and they sustained no injuries. The problem in this reserve is that the roads, or should I say bush tracks, are so bad that if you encounter a bad tempered ellie, you have NO chance of escape. Luckily (said in a sarcastic tone) there are not many ellies left, thus most people are just lucky if they encounter dung.

My SO has gone to Moz today to fish, they always go through the Elephant reserve, and as you say the roads or tracks are dreadful, absolutely no chance of escape, he has brought back pics before of an ellie grazing off the road. However my brother-in-law last year, met an ellie on one of these tracks, this ellie was advancing towards them. They did not know what to do as no ways of turning round or reversing with their trailer, what he did was he and his passenger both opened their doors and flapped them open and shut. The ellie, stopped looked and turned around and ambled off. Now I do not advocate this as a solution, and whether it was the flapping doors, (meant to look like ears) that worked or not, who knows. Maybe it was just a good natured ellie.

And what if the bull sees your vehicle as an attractive female!
