Another that has me guessing, I'm thinking that they're likely both Karoo larks? Both were seen on 28 September 2009 at WCNP.

This first one was quite far away, foraging amongst the flowers

The first I would say is a Karoo Lark

* Lacking yellow at the base of the bill
* heavy streaking on the breast
* visible white supercillium
* greyish colour
* whitish throat
* wing pattern or "side" striping
* more decurved bill

Hope this helps

Thanks, HL and RJ — especially to HL for the detailed listing of the differences 8) Lots to learn, larks are very puzzling still :wall: :D

Here's two more that are puzzling me, both seen at WCNP on 28 September 2009 (and far away, so poor quality pix :( )

This first one I think may be a Karoo lark?

I didn't find a topic for this bird, so here is one that I saw in WCNP on 28 September 2010.
