Nice shot DB.
We get them at the lodge at Welgevonden (adjoins Marakele NP) all the time, along with Yellow-fronted Canaries

Hey Johan and Mites, I'm sure you guys can help me with this one.

This puffed-up little brown bird sat in my neighbours Malberry tree beginning April late afternoon - Pretoria North. Not a great picture with poor light.

Is that the best crop, only shot?

Looks like a mousebird, probably speckled

Weird bird. Does not look like anything I know... maybe an escapee?

Let's wait and see what offers...

Hi SM, this is a Streaky-headed Seed-Eater, the streaking on the head is quite clear.

A common bird in Pretoria east as well.

Thanx Wiltuinman

They are not to common here by us and sit every afternoon with the binocs spying the surrounding trees, but I so glad they do visit from time to time, another lifer is always exiting!

Hi All,

This bird has me totally stumped! Sorry - I only have the front end. It was taken along the pathway leading up to the Rondevlei bird hide in the Wilderness, so coastal bush, in May this year, and it was alone. I would say it was around about 15cm. Any ideas?

Thanks!
