Hi EJ. Nice to hear from you again. Thanks for the lovely photos - stunning. That moth in army camaflage is good but I don't know what it is. DB and Hawk in Kruger again - I am so  . The pic of you taking aim with the rifle tells me that rifle is too big for you, and congratulations for being able to handle it so proficiently. Looking forward to more photos and news.

Lovely pics EJ, so enjoyed looking at them, thanks for sharing. The Moth is a Hawkmoth, known as the Arrow Sphinx Hawkmoth. Amazing markings.

Thanks Salamanda!

ON Sunday I returned via Croc Bridge so I could pick up post. The trip down gave me lots of ellies.....one male walking on the side of the road towards me, with cars stopped in front of me (a couple with reverse lights showing) and several following behind him. As I approached I sized up the situation. He was ambling along, ignoring the traffic totally. I decided to pass, keeping my speed as the vehicle was running very quietly and changing speed or touching the brakes would make a noise (the brakes in the courtesy car I am driving at present squeal at times). He did not even acknowledge my presence as I drove past!!!! No turn of his head, alteration in steps or direction.....even his eye on my side had a sleepy look about it.

Also had giraffes, impalas, kudus, hippos, wildebeest, zebras, warthogs, and several huge traffic jams!

On Tuesday evening I did a night drive for BnD which was very quiet but did give us a couple of spotted eagle owls, impalas, scrub hares, giraffes, rhinos, hyenas.

Last night another night drive which started off even quieter! Later in the drive we had a couple of rhinos grazing right next to us for a while, totally ignoring us. Guests kept very quiet and the lights away from the animals' heads which helped of course. Later a civet which stayed with us for a while too.....but a bit active so photos were difficult. Then a couple of separate hippos, one very close to us. A glimpse of a giraffe plus the usual impalas and scrub hares made up most of the rest of the drive together with some well-behaved spotted eagle owls.

But as we got close to the BnD gate at the end I saw something in the road.....a leopard walking towards us! He came past us slowly, I turned the vehicle and we followed him for a bit. He stopped at the dump turning and roared!!!! Impalas began alarm calls..... He walked on and we followed a bit, but it was getting late. I passed him turned and we had a last look before going back to camp.

On my way home I found him again, and the owls, and a couple of porcupines!
