Update at 16:00 on 3 April 2013, South African National Parks (SANParks) would like to remind guests on their way to the |Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park from Namibia that, as a result of heavy rains, roads leading to the park from the neighbouring country, Namibia, have been flooded and subsequently closed. All the access road on the South African side of the park are still open and accessible.

Gabrielle Venter, SANParks Regional Communications Manager: Arid Region said all the roads along the river on the Namibian side are closed indefinitely and cannot be used at all.

The roads affected have been closed to ensure visitors safety during this time. “Guests arriving in the next few days have been informed and advised accordingly to exercise caution and use alternative roads, visitors will receive updates as and when our Namibian counterparts furnish us with information on the roads situation” said Venter.

Roads that have been affected by rains are:

Orangemund Road - closed
Rosh Pinah Road – closed
Ai-Ais road – closed
Noordoewer – closed
