@ Jonkers: What I actually meant with the 'warm welcome' message, was to welcome you (and everybody else) to this particular "thread" for taking part in the discussions and not to the "forum" pages! Thank you once again!

@ Sheenaugh - Lee May I ask when last you were in KTP? Reason is, that if it was past end December/ beginning January 2013, there is an outside chance that we might have met!

On the evening of 29th December 2010 at about 9.30pm this 'Brownie' came out of the dark to drink at the Nossob water hole. (Photo: courtesy of my son-in-law, Brendon)

With regard to the honey badgers... we lived at Tamboti camp a few years ago.. We were eating on the veranda and suddenly the badger just walked up the steps and started digging in the trash for food. All the while we were just sitting there, too afraid to move. :(

@fotomaljohan, thanks anyway !!!!!

Regarding Toilets 'out of use' in KTP: Lijersdraai some years ago.
We don't know who or what animal used the ladies but the mess was incredible, in and outside, door..
When we reported it arriving at Grootkolk, Nossob answered they knew something happened there. What ? we still don't know. I do know another visitor took a picture of it

One of the reasons why I started this thread, was because I remembered reading in one of the older Afrikaans WEG Magazines that there was an article placed by someone who visited KTP and on arrival found eleven lions at the AUCHTERLONIE MUSEUM & Picnic site, of which 5 lions were lying in the shade directly against the wall of the museum!

I consulted the WEG MAGAZINES Web page and searched the archive pages and found the article (with a photo)!
You can find the article and photo in WEG MAGAZINE Nr 62 of December 2009 on page 12. The article and photo was done and taken by Theuns & Elize Naude of Upington. I will try my best to get hold of them to try and have that photo published here in this tread! But in the mean time, you can view it by following the instructions above!
Type in....'Weg Tydskrif' in the Google search: Then click on 'Archive' and then click on the December 2009 issue. Go to page 12 and Voila!

Well researched Fotomaljohan.....must have taken a while to find the article.

When we went up to the AUCHTERLONIE MUSEUM & Picnic site in Oct 2012 there were 7 lions just moving off from the shaded braai areas......they went over the hill towards KielieKrankie and then other people arrived for a 'rest house' break......couldn't believe we had just seen lion there.

Thank you very much GlynB! Just wondering if you have taken some photos of those lions at Auchterlonie? FMJ

Thank you very much myles for the quick follow - up and placement of that precious article! (both in English and Afrikaans)

The lions (of KTP) seemed to be just everywhere in this vast park, but especially keen to visit the picnic sights - be warned!

Talking about lions, I have read somewhere (but cannot find it again), that a lion walked into the Twee Rivieren gate farely recently, can someone please verify if this is so? FMJ

Hi there FMJ - here is the post from Jannie that you were looking for ;:

Post subject: Re: Recent Animal Sightings. Posted: Tue Dec 04, 2012 11:33 am and he was talking to Div - his post is a few before Jannies ....

Just to get back to your post of the Lion in camp. You are correct in saying that the lion did enter the camp through the Botswana gate, luckily the lion was seen soon and we were told about it (06h00). Park manager and I immediately went out to where he was sighted and started to 'push' him towards the fence (Botswana side) so that he could follow the tracks leading to the gate (Botswana).

It took us a good 20 minutes to get him out of the gate.
