The info is on my SO s computer which is in for repairs. As soon as he gets it back he will print the info and I will arrange to post it.

I am looking thru thousands of photos at the moment, searching for the picture of the brown hyena we saw in Kruger in 1978 or 1979, that will take a while because as I say there are easily 20000 photos if not more.

When I do find it I would like to see the look on some of the, I do not believe you, forum members face . :D

We saw a Pangolin about 10 days ago, although not in any of the SANParks. Keep an eye on this trip report should you wish to see pictures of it as evidence: Here.

On 1 May 1813, 200 years ago this year, Joao Albasini was born. He was a Portuguese trader. The remains of his 19th century trading post are still to be seen in southern Kruger.

In September 2004 an 8 minute video called “Battle at Kruger’ was shot at Transport Dam. This Kruger battle was about an unfolding confrontation between a herd of buffalo, a pride of lions and one or two crocodiles. This video went viral on Youtube and became a hit with approx. 66 million views and 79 000 comments. This battle happened in Kruger 9 years ago this month.

According to Wikipedia the online encyclopedia:

Kruger history

“The tremendous increase in grass covers during the summer of 1970/ favoured the hunting activities of predators. To restore balance, the Park ceased the culling of wildebeest (1972) and zebra (1974) and re-introduced carnivore control in December 1974 in selected areas. From 1974 to 1980 a total of 456 lion and 364 spotted hyenas were killed”.

According to the Census results in 1973 there were 7 965 elephants in Kruger.
