I wondered if anyone can help, we were in Kruger late December and driving south of Skukuza on the H-1-1 on the 29th Dec. it was roughly 8:20 in the morning and we were in a blue VW Polo.

We had lions resting against our car for around 20 minutes, with the male periodically getting up and hitting our car after seeing his reflection in the bodywork. The trouble is, whilst we have plenty of pictures of their approach, we don't have a single photo of any of the tense events looking at our car! There were a lot of people taking photos, including many guides.

I just wondered if there was anyone looking at these forums who may on the off-chance have a photo/video?!

Quite an amazing event, there was a post recently where a Leopard was also doing the same thing.
Did your paintwork get damaged at all?
I do hope you will be able to get some pics and footage from the other visitors.

Thank you for all of the replies; I was sent photographs and a link to the uploaded YouTube clip as a result of getting in touch with Thompsons Safaris (their van was parked opposite us), but this was only after posting questions on here and on the Kruger Facebook group, somebody suggested emailing the safari company.

Luckily they got straight in touch, sent me 6 photographs and also the video above. Goes to show how positive web-forums can be!

Wow - Tom 083! Now that's a nice video to get a hold of and show off! Lovely big lion roaring at your car - he definitely wanted to keep all other males far away from his lady. And the guy in the reflection was so handsome...

It is clear now that he was frustrated that the female had wedged her rear under our car to stop him from trying to mate!
