Looks like Spotted Flycatcher, Arks.

Thanks, WTM! I'd also considered spotted flycatcher, but thought that the 'streaking' wasn't enough. :hmz: And spotted flycatcher is a new tick for me!

Another one that I need some help with. :hmz: Is this a plainbacked pipit? Seen at Mokala in late October 2012.

More likely to be Buffy pipit.

Pink mandible (yellow in plain backed), flat forecrown and body is more chest heavy than belly heavy.

Do you remember if it walked like a wagtail? Sewing machine like walk, with lots of tail wagging, as if it was wagging the whole body would confirm it as buffy.

Thanks, adrian! I don't really remember -- after three months -- how the bird walked, but looking at the whole sequence of pix that I took of it, its stance (or giss?) looks remarkably wagtail-like ... :hmz:

If band-width ever permits me, I will post some video clips in HD of buffy, plain backed and african pipit "in motion" so you can see what I mean. Suddenly pipits become a lot easier with video footage.

I have NO idea what this little bird might be. I'd thought possibly a puffed up marico flycatcher (it was early morning), but the bill seems wrong :hmz: Seen at Mokala in late October 2012.

I am no expert Naomi but I would lean towards Lesser Swamp Warbler :)

Because of the indistinct buff eyebrow and short wings: African reed-warbler

Another that I need help with :hmz: I think that it may be a juvenile of some sort? But I have no idea what sort! Seen at Intaka Island (Century City), Cape Town, on 16 November 2012.
