We get back to Lilydale and find this southern masked weaver building a nest

Image

Image

We go for lunch at the newly opened restuarant which we find to be very good. When we leave for the afternoon drive the weaver has made good progress

Image

and admires its work :D

Image

On the drive we see Black Wildebeest

Image

Gemsbok

Eland

and this baby tssessebe that has tagged on to a sable

Mokala grows on me with each visit. The catch line for Mokala, on the permit is:

Where endangered species roam

See you there

Thank you to all for your comments

 Hi Duke, thank you for sharing the lovely photos of Wildebeest, Gemsbok, Eland, Sable and baby Tssessebe
:) It is amazing how the poor little male Weaver work so hard on the nest and the female can destroy it in seconds if not satisfied.
Great pics

Unbelievable how much progress the Southern-masked Weaver made with the nest while you were having lunch and a little rest!

Never seen Black Wildebeest, which means we will have to pay Mokala a visit! Beautiful Gemsbok, Eland, and Sable with the Tsessebe baby!

I also wonder where the Tsessebe mom was? :(

Thank you All

@Sheenaugh Lee and hilda - the Tssessebe Mommy had crossed the road when we arrived and the baby got left behind so stayed with the sable. I am sure she would have joined up with Mommy after we left.

That's interesting Duke one would think that the babies would stay with their mothers at all times seeing that the animal moms are as bad as us moms when our kids are small 'I want to see you the whole time you hear' lol but what I find fascinating is that the sable was so accommodating towards the baby tsessebe? :)

Unbelievable to have such beautiful places in SA that we did not visit as yet  . Might just happen that me and Hilda will have the change to visit Lilydale and Mokala in the near future :hmz: .

Lucky for us we have all our forum friends that supply us with the beauty of SA in the meantime  .

Thanks for all the awesome pic's that transfer those far off places into our homes to enjoy   .

Thanks for sharing Duke

We also saw some 'almost Quaggas' in September. Didn't know that these were part of the project.

A very interesting park worth a visit or two :D
