Have been asked to do night drives for BnD tonight and tomorrow - but with the rain I do not know whether they will happen or not......time will tell.

...except it brought down the front of my caravan tent again last night! I have now removed the poles and just fastened everything to the ground until I have time to make a better repair job.

Will not do a drive tonight......still raining, and it is really a waste of time and fuel to go to BnD, wait around and then just drive home again.

Hmmmnn, I can see we're in for a well-vegetated Kruger when we get there in winter! Sorry about the tent EJ, I guess the rain can get a bit much when you're camping. Hope you get some dry weather and a sunny day soon.

EJ. Hope the weather improves for all you will be busy with in the next month or so. Kruger needs the rain though but I hope you get some sunny days too. Be safe. Regards from EL

By the way saw impalas tucking into marulas today! They were cleaning up under the tree near the reception area at the gate, and there was a noticeable bare earth area where they had been.

Sorry about your tent Ecojunkie! :(

At least you had some "help" with removing the amarulas!

[quote="Deon"]Tent are always a problem when out in the wheather so long. Maybee you should see if you cannot get a wooden "afdak" constructed to park your caravan under. This would help with rain and the heat.[quote]

Good idea, and would stop me being assaulted by marulas at the moment too.......but not sure whether I would be allowed to put up a structure like that.

EJ, I met you two years ago at Malelane on Old Years day, but I was not so active on the forum yet. I realy enjoy your daily reports, so much so that I cant wait to get to work to read them.

We did go again this New Year but stayed in Marloth and went into the Park twice. Heard the lions nearly every night from the Park and Lionspruit.

The rain is so needed.

Wish I was there I would have helped you fix your tent. (Girl power!!!)

Wednesday midday we were on our way to Punda Maria - via Giyani on the outside of the park as no time to travel inside. Rained most of the way! Saw lots of animals.....goats, cows.......dogs......and nyala and zebs along the fence of one of the private reserves.

Just before 6pm we entered Punda gate and in no time were at the camp and finding our safari tent. Then a braai before eventually falling into bed late. Fortunately the folk we were joining had arrived earlier and started a fire, so it was not as late as it could have been. Rain poured down, and we learned the road to Shingwedzi was flooded and closed meaning that several travellers had to stay at Punda. One couple we met had been evacuated from Pafuri camp in the night when the river suddenly rose alarmingly.

Animals seen inside the park included impalas, warthogs, zebs, nyala, buffalo, ellies.
