I was there this past week and on the s114 we saw a Sooty Falcon and a Madagascar Cukoo. There were at least 10 birders at both sightings. Im still new to birding so I dont think I really appreciate the rarity of those sightings

Went on a Sunset drive from Punda and we went to see the pennant-winged nightjar. All I can say is "Wow".

What an experience. If you are up there when they are displaying then beg to be taken, you will not be disappointed.

Any recent updates . Will be travelling south to north and back again next week and would appreciate any comments . Am particularly interested in the current activity at Lake P and Leeupan . Any pygmy geese sightings at Leeupan or Jones dam ? Anyone been to Pafuri picnic site recently ? Will give detailed feedback on my return for anyone interested .

The forum is quite quiet - any Kruger sightings news ?

For those Gauteng birders - I saw a Black tailed Godwit about 300m past the Shelduck hide at Marievale yesterday afternoon .

Those are some really nice sightings Highbury. Would've loved getting that Crimson-breasted Shrike on my Kruger list.
We stayed 1 night at Sirheni and 2 nights each at Shingwedzi and Punda Maria. We were lucky enough to get the 'resident' Osprey at Sable dam on our way in.
In the Sirheni area we got Long-crested Eagle on the S56 Mpgongolo loop.
At Boyela waterhole we got a single Red-billed Teal and 4-5km south of that we had a stunning sighting of Senegal Coucal.
Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

It isn't. There was a Myna right next to the road on the H1-8, a few hundred meters south of the northern T-juntion with the Northern Plains Trail road (i.e. not far from Baobab Hill) on November 19 or 20 (can't recall for sure).

We are in Phalaborwa, Shingwedzi, Punda and Pafuri next week and weekend.

Any recent interesting sightings? Sounds like a fair amount of rain fell up north.

Would also appreciate any current feedback . Particularly interested in any pygmy geese sightings at Leeupan or Jones dam . When I was there at Christmas there was no sign of them , but I think they are sighted in late summer when the waterlilies are seeding .

We will be in Croc Bridge and Skukuza this coming weekend.

Any good sightings in those areas recently?

Has anyone got any updates on the Black Coucals seen on the S107 (Nhlanganzwani Dam) and the S128?
