Glad the meal was good Val,
I can well relate to the heat, SO & I were there one year in Feb!
I can tolerate the heat fairly well but that night it was almost too hot to eat and I was tempted to just go for a salad but the great menu persuaded me otherwise! 8)

Just been to Selati, 30 Dec, had a wonderful meal, great service and well, who can begin to describe the ambiance of the "Station" it is something special.

Was it hot? You bet, but somehow one forgets the heat.

Love the place! :)

So glad to hear that the service and food at the Selati Restaurant has improved and is back to how it was and should be. There is so much scope and potential for it to be really outstanding.

Are they serving lunches yet?? Last time I looked, it was closed at lunchtime. We don't often stay at Skukuza Camp itself, but would love to have lunch at the Selati, when staying elsewhere.

Keep up the good work at Selati!

Thanks, Saraf. Maybe they should think of lunchtime opening - I'm sure they would do a roaring trade.

The only problem is that its in a part of the camp that should be off limits to day visitors.

I see they are advertising that they are now open for breakfast if anyone is interested.

For those who have eaten a meal there, can someone give me an idea if the prices are exhorbatant.
We will be visiting end Jan and I want to take my party there. Is it going to break the bank or are the
dishes reasonably priced?

Just thought it may be a good change one night, instead of braaing all the time.

I can;t remember the exact prices but I'd say there's a range of prices Fee. Some of the prawn dishes were over R100 but the pizzas were a lot less and the hake I had was around R80.

Prices are definitely not exorbitant.
Not exactly cheap, but we thought very reasonably priced for such lovely food.
Much cheaper than UK prices!!!

As I thought. Val will try anything with Amarula. :)
Is that where my last bottle on the bus diasppeared too? :hmz:

Last time I was in Selati, oh too long ago, it was fabulous. Good food, good service, everything one would expect from this restaurant.

How are the normal restaurants now? Not very good in Sept '11.

Hope you had/have a nice time in Kruger. The meal at least was good and lots of sightings I hope. (Don't think about us unfortunate ones here in the cold and rain)

BTW. Is it true that P@m past away? Having been absent from the forum for some time (jealous of the people going to KNP) I looked on 'Meets and Greets/Remembering them' and was shocked to see her name there.
And Richprins no longer a forum member

Regards
Xankie
