Saw this raptor in the western section of Mapungubwe at the beginning of the month. Juvenile Verreaux's Eagle?

Hi Naomi

I think the first one is probably a African Hawk-Eagle, Busy moulting from Juvenile to Adult plumage.

I found another bird where I need the help from the experts :redface: :redface: :redface:

This I guess is an African Hawk Eagle - Seen in the Letaba riverbed on the S93 on on 22.02.13

This bird is an African Hawk-Eagle.

Thanks BB, I was not convinced it was an African hawk eagle. We do get them in the area but thought they are more black than brown and quite heavily spotted on the chest. Then again I am smaller than a duckling when it comes to birds :wink:

BB I have seen a brown Wahlbergs and there are Martials in the area. It was a fair size!

Johan, barryels actually suggested Booted Eagle (when I posted it under birds in the garden thread) Would my area be correct for them?
