Very special sightings of the Pangolin, (which I still have to see) and Sable!

Hope he was not playing "Elephant" or chicken with the truck ras? 8)

Hi Ras,

I drove passed Talamati yesterday in search of Sable, but at least spotted some rare sightings according to me. Saw two honeybadgers waving through the long grass on the S145 near Fairfield and two side-stripped jackal between the turn off to Imbali and the S36.

We also spotted 4 lion cubs on the S36 near the S125 turnoff. We sat there for nearly two hours waiting for their moms to return and gave up around 8:30 am. I hope you will find them again and can give feedback on the cubs. They were well taught to stay at that spot waiting for mom to return. At one points something scared them and they wanted to run off, but returned again to the same spot.

Son godin wrote:Hi ras,

Great news about the dogs. Do you think its the same pack seen near Rabelais and Timbavati road or is too far south and maybe the pack from Sweni river area?

Seems like doggies were spotted at lots of places the past month. Heard of sightings near Balule too.

yes there has been a lot. my guess is it is the same pack all over. remember they move about a lot.

not a very beautiful shot but it was a nice sigthing, 3 lionesses with 8 cubs.
later a lioness 600metres from camp then a male lion 30 metres from the camp gate.
not to mention the rest of the sightings

a bonus leopard was in front of camp at 18:30pm before we started with the night drive.

It's amazing what you can see from the hide at five o'clock in the morning with a cup of coffee in your hand! Or even with night vision glasses.

Talamati is one of those camps where you don't have to go out - you just let the game come to you.

hello forumites

yesterday 10th january at around 16:30 there were 3 male lions right at the concrete dam in front of the camp. this is becoming a habit :D
they just sat there till nightfall and man did we have a nice lullaby from their singing. like all night.
