I am so glad that dinghy trips in Kruger are not a possibility as Kruger should remain a place for the nature and the animals. Imagine sitting quietly under a tree admiring the river and Kruger natural surroundings and all of a sudden come by a brightly coloured dinghy :|  scaring away all wildlife in its path :sniper: .

But other rules that are broken are also not good and I think over the December holiday period that has started it is a bit more possible as more people have time-off to visit. So I wish Kruger peace and quiet for the holidays and no inappropriate activities  .

I think this sounds fun but should not be done in areas where the river is in view from a road, or a camp, as this would potentially ruin peoples' viewing experiences. This problem is easily avoidable as there are large stretches of rivers nowhere near roads.

Nah, too dangerous. Crocs and Hippos will terrorize you. I would rather take a hot air ballon flight over Satara or skydiving over Shing.

And when can we, the cyclists, have that Skukuza to Lower Sabie Super Cycling Challenge?

Haven't the time to read six pages of posts, but anything is possible if you are willing to take the associated risks. A lot of canoeing is done on the Zambezi, which is chock-a-block with hippos and crocs. I've done it a number of times, and can confirm that it can get pretty exciting on occasion. The KNP rivers are much narrower and shallower, with far less room for maneuver, so I have my doubts. When they come down in flood after heavy rain,l trips in any type of craft would be borderline suicidal.

As for swimming, it can be done, but with utmost caution. A group of field guide trainees went swimming at Mutale Gorge the other month, where it is "always" safe to swim. One of the trainers got nailed by a croc, and ended up with 142 or 124 stitches in his leg, I forget which. (the Mutale is a tributary of the Luvuvhu).

Dinghy trips should be possible now that the rivers are flowing strongly.

Come on SANP cash in on it.

Yeah, and instead of crossing the park in a leisurely four days, you can set a world record and do it in about 4 minutes

Maybe a barrel race, then we can leave the barrels for the communities to brew Palm Wine, ready for our next visit.

If one looks at the furniture scattered around at Shingwedzi, then a fridge race might not be a bad idea, padkos packed already.
